Exploring autumn, learning about trees, building bonfire art, talking about bonfire safety and subitising leaves!
Using colourful water to create a bonfire!
We used different fire themed colours of orange, red, yellow and brown to create a bonfire. We squeezed the pipettes and filled them with water. Then we dripped the water onto the cotton wool to create a colourful bonfire.
999! What is your emergency?
Today we learned a little about bonfire safety. We role played a 999 call. Then we played firefighters, answer emergency called and helped put out blazing fires! What super imaginative play!
Representing 5!
We read we are going on a ghost hunt and we represented the five ghosts we found using a five frame! We matched the number on the number track!
Pumpkin hammering!
We wore our safety googles and used hammers to hammer golf tees into the pumpkins. This has been great for our fine motor skills and building our arm muscles too!
Baking pumpkin shapes biscuits!
Class One worked with Mrs Ula to bake pumpkin shaped biscuits. They enjoyed combining the ingredients, rolling the dough and cutting out the pumpkin shape. There were lots of star bakers!
We painted a pumpkin!
Reception have been painting pumpkins in their artbooks. They used the correct colours and shapes to create a painting of the real orange pumpkin on the table. They used the vocabulary stalk, vine, pumpkin and ridges to describe the parts of the pumpkin they were painting.
Hot chocolate anyone?
Class one have enjoyed running their own hot chocolate shop in class one! We poured warm, velvety hot chocolate and added giant, fluffy marshmallows. There has been some super talking and vocabulary used!
Pumpkins artwork in the style of Yayoi Kusama
We have enjoyed exploring creating pumpkin artwork in the style of Yayoi Kusama.
We used bright colours and black spots to add spotty detail to our pumpkins.
5 little pumpkins!
We used dough to create 5 little pumpkins sitting on the wall for our five frame!
We found one less each time one fell off the wall. We smashed the pumpkin with our hand.
We also represented the amount using numbers and tallies.

Dough disco!
We have been using dough disco to help us improve our finger strength and muscle development. We created flower shapes by pressing the dough, snail shells by curling the dough and we enjoyed moving the dough to our favourite songs and rhymes! Give dough disco a go together at home using our dough…
1,2,3!
Reception have started to learn more about 1,2 and 3. We have made the amounts on 5 frames, drawn pictures, showed amounts on fingers, looked at the matching numbers, looked at dice patterns and subitised. We played make a team of 1,2 and 3! The children also explored 1,2 and 3 during learning…
