It’s been a great few weeks again here at St Mary’s. Each class has worked super hard in a variety of exciting and creative ways. The enrichment opportunities have been fantastic. From Class 3’s visit to the Roman site Wall; World Book Day day activities; Class 4’s work with the local community police officers and the girls football match; it really has been a great time at St Mary’s.
World Book Day
World Book day was a huge success. It was great to mix the children up across the school, allowing them to mix with other classes and get to be taught by different adults. The children and staff all had a great day.
Fly like an Eagle Art
We have been blown away by the amount of art we have received for our competition. We are excited to announce that the art gallery will be displayed in church from Monday, staying there all week before coming back into school. Please take a look and encourage the wider community to do the same. There will be a voting area for you to choose your favourite piece of art.
We continue to work on the value of forgiveness this month. There are some lovely ideas for home learning on our website if you wish to explore this value further. Forgiveness
After the success of our Class 3 boys team recently our football spread to a girls match against The Howard primary. I was so proud of all the girls involved with particular mention to our year 4 girls who stepped in at the last minute with positivity and commitment. Without them we would have had to cancel the event-thank you girls. The match was a celebration of international women’s day and we were certainly very impressed with their girl power
It gives me great pleasure to welcome our new governors to school in their new roles. They have already had their first meetings and been actively involved in school life including looking at our maths provision. I cannot wait to work with them more as we develop our wonderful school still further. Please say hello to them on the gate and keep up to date with our meetings via the school website here
We are still actively looking for funding for our outdoor nursery. If anyone knows any local businesses that may be able to help or your own company match funds please drop us an email via the school office.
Thank you for your continued support
