Weaving a fruit basket!
Class one have been weaving and decorating baskets for Handa to carry her fruit in. We looked at traditional African bowls and recreated the patterns using pen. We also weaved paper and created fruit using pastels.
Faith necklaces
Faith necklaces - a small seed to hold and remind us that we can grow with care, and be anything we want to be.
African style jewellery!
Today we looked at African style jewellery and created our own. We then worn our jewellery to dance to African themed music!
Printing using winter colours and patterns!
We mixed wintry blues and drew snowflakes, swirls and spirals to create winter patterns. We placed a piece of paper on top and created winter prints.
Handa’s surprise! We gave Handa a new hair style!
We threaded beads onto Handa’s and Akeyo’s hair! A great way to build our fine motor skills!
Special Stories
Today we have looked at a Special Story from Sikhism - The Milk and the Jasmine Flower. We noticed that the story reminded us of Jesus in some parts, and that both Sikhism and Christianity want us to spread kindness.

Matching amounts to numbers up to 5!
Today we peeled snowflake stickers(great for our fine motor skills!) and matched amounts to numbers 0-5. We know zero is nothing! We subitised along the way!
Loaves and Fish!
After reading about how kind and helpful Jesus was, when he fed a large crowd with bread and fish, we made our own bread. We also made picnic baskets, so we could be like the people who sat and listened to Jesus as he taught.
Maths hunt!
Class one went on a maths hunt around school during forest school! They subitised, recognised numbers and counted along the way. We looked at the numbers on car registration plates, found them on labels in the garden, subitised mole hills and counted parts of the trim trail! Amazing maths…
Drawing snowmen!
We learned to draw snowmen using lots of detail and using different shapes.
Building ice penguins!
Class one build ice penguins using a mould! We frozen them outside over night and we are getting ready to explore and investigate the ice further using lots of tools. We want to find a way to melt them quickly. I wonder what we could use or do to melt them?
Santa obstacle course!
A Santa themed obstacle course this morning! Can you jump off the chimneys? Can you climb up the ladder to reach the roof? We had so much fun and what a super way to exercise!
