Class 2

In Class 2 we have been reading the story The Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton. Today we had our story in front of the fire. 

Today in phonics Year 1 have been learning the a-e sound. Angry Red A had left lots of words in our outdoor area and we had to find and record them with a partner.

In RE Class 2 have been learning about forgiveness. We have looked at the parable of The Lost Son and today we have been learning the story of Jonah and the Big Fish. We made our own whales out of paper plates. 

Year 1 have been doing some super maths this week. We have been counting backwards within 10, finding 1 less than a given number and comparing groups by matching. We have used the concrete resources to support our learning and worked in groups and pairs to solve problems.

In maths today our Year 2 Children have been using apparatus to partition numbers to 100. 
 

Class 2 have been learning all about vegetables this week. We have been preparing our own vegetables patches in school in preparation for growing some of own vegetables throughout the year. The children looked at some real vegetables discussing how we would prepare them to eat.

Our Year 1 children have been doing some fantastic work in Monster Phonics this week. They have learnt some new sounds and practised reading and writing them. They have also played some games and worked as a team. 
 

Today we made carp kites and tried to fly them. Well done class 2, we had to work really hard on our cutting skills. 

Class 2 have spent a lot of time learning about Judaism. Can you remember any of the artefacts? 

Class 2 had an amazing time at the safari park last week. We explored the park on the coach with two rangers to tell us all about the animals. Then we walked around the park and saw the indoor animals and dinosaur trail. Some of us were brave and even ventured into the bat cave! 

In french class 2 have been learning days of the week, numbers , colours and food words and they have been listening to the french version of the hungry caterpillar story. They then loved designing their own class 2 version of the story. Fantastique classe deux!
