Flying like an eagle in writing!

Today Reception have been working on their writing skill! Everyone has flown like an eagle in their writing today! 

Today we had a go at writing short words about what the body can do e.g sit, hop, run. Here is how we did it. 

First we said the word in a sentence and did the action. "My body can run."
Then we sounded the word out. "r-u-n." 
Next we built the word using magnets and a phoneme frame, like the one in the picture. We found the magnets r,u and n and placed them in order. Then we read it back "r-u-n run!"
Next we wrote it down.

This helped us to use our phonics skills, recognise the letters and take our time building the word before we wrote it. 

We have practiced our formation along the way and also we had a go at writing I and was which are some of our Monster Phonics focus words.
