Exploring Brush Strokes
In art today we have been using a variety of different brushes to experiment with different strokes.
English and IT
In English we are going to be writing fact files and non chronological reports about penguins. Today we combined our IT and English lesson into one and used the chrome books as well as other sources to research information about penguins.
Musical Instruments - Graphic Scores
In music today we used the percussion instruments to compos a graphic notation for one of the stories we have covered this year ‘Katie in London’.
Warm up to Multiplication
In maths today Year 1 have been sorting and matching their wellies into pairs. We then practiced counting up in twos. We also used and hands and fingers to help us count up in fives and tens. We worked out that we had 150 fingers altogether!

Today in English Class 2 have been independently retelling the story of Grandad’s Island by Benji Davies.
Great Fire of London Day
Class 2 had a fantastic day at Richard Crosse for Great Fire of London Day. We watched a fantastic performance, made our own houses out of boxes and set them on fire! Then we did quizzes and games on the laptops. It was lovely to spend the day with our friends from across the…
Music Time
In music today we have been learning about graphic notation. We used this method of composing to create a piece linked to our story Grandads Island. We composed our pieces in pairs and enjoyed practising and performing them to the class.
Alien or Real
Today in phonics our Year 1 children have been sorting black cat words into trash or treasure. They worked as a team and practiced reading the words.
Marvellous Maths
In maths today we have been activating our prior knowledge in Place Value to 20. We ordered numbers to 20, partitioned teen numbers into tens and ones, found one more one less and used the < > = symbols to show numbers which are greater than, less than and equal to.
World Book Day
Class 2 had a fantastic time today. We learnt and performed poems and wrote our own version of London’s burning.
Salvation -The Easter Story
Today in are we have learning about the events of Holy Week. We acted out the story to help us remember. The children are acting out Palm Sunday when Jesus and his disciple rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.
Outdoor Learning
On Thursday Class 2 invited their friends from Richard Crosse over for an outdoor learning day. We made potions, created leaf art, did rubbings in the churchyard and we even went to the park! We stayed outside all day even for lunch!
