Class 2

In art this half term we are looking at colour and collage. Yesterday we sketched a bird and today we used a variety of magazines and newspapers to choose and add colour to our pictures. 
 

In English we have been looking at The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. We have been exploring the difference in the language as the story was first published in 1902. Today we worked with a partner to spot the suffixes in the text. 

Today in maths Year 1 have been cutting bread and pancakes into quarters, understanding that a 1/4 is one of four equal parts. 
 

In maths today Year 1 have been learning to recognise a quarter. They made pizzas and shared them equally into four parts. 

In RE this half term we have been learning all about prayer and why and how Christians pray. Yesterday we wrote thank you prayers and today we are choosing our favourite line from the Lord’s Prayer and interpreting it’s meaning through…

Today in English the children have been working as a team to research facts about some of the animals that live in the Savannah. Tomorrow we are going to use the information we have found to write a fact file about our chosen animal. 
 

In maths this week Class 2 used their shoes, hands and feet to count  in twos, fives and tens. 

In DT this week we have been designing and making a moon buggy. We really enjoyed getting creative and produced some superb pieces of work!

Today in DT we have been looking at vehicles. We investigated how axels and chassis and had a go at making our own versions using different methods. 
 

Class 2 had a fantastic day at the Space Centre. We learnt lots more about space travel and our solar system. We particularly loved the planetarium as we felt like we were travelling through space! 
 

In maths today Year 1 have been using the apparatus to compare capacity. They had lots of fun experimenting with the different sized containers and the water!
