Gymnastics - Balancing
Today we have been practising balancing. We have been exploring 1 point, 2 point and 3 point balances.
Marshmallow Maths
In maths we have been learning about 2D shapes and their properties. Today we made shapes out of skewers and marshmallows to show how many sides and how many vertices.
Special Stories
Today we have looked at a Special Story from Sikhism - The Milk and the Jasmine Flower. We noticed that the story reminded us of Jesus in some parts, and that both Sikhism and Christianity want us to spread kindness.
We made our own flowers to put into ‘milk’, and watched in awe and wonder as…
Matching amounts to numbers up to 5!
Today we peeled snowflake stickers(great for our fine motor skills!) and matched amounts to numbers 0-5. We know zero is nothing! We subitised along the way!
Young Voices
Such an amazing time at Young Voices on Monday. Check us out on our Instagram.
Snow much fun
Whatever the weather we get our children outside to be at one with nature.
Loaves and Fish!
After reading about how kind and helpful Jesus was, when he fed a large crowd with bread and fish, we made our own bread. We also made picnic baskets, so we could be like the people who sat and listened to Jesus as he taught.
London
In geography this half term we are learning about London and The United Kingdom. Today we found the UK on the globe and learnt about London’s Landmarks.
Maths hunt!
Class one went on a maths hunt around school during forest school! They subitised, recognised numbers and counted along the way. We looked at the numbers on car registration plates, found them on labels in the garden, subitised mole hills and counted parts of the trim trail! Amazing maths…
Drawing snowmen!
We learned to draw snowmen using lots of detail and using different shapes.
Building ice penguins!
Class one build ice penguins using a mould! We frozen them outside over night and we are getting ready to explore and investigate the ice further using lots of tools. We want to find a way to melt them quickly. I wonder what we could use or do to melt them?
Waterproofing
In DT, we have been learning all about waterproofing. Today, we experimented waxing. We tested our boats against a boat made from non-waxed paper to compare the results.
