Hi Class 3!

I hope you're all staying safe and enjoying being at home. I've been busy doing some gardening and decorating at home this weekend. It's been great to get outside in the lovely spring weather! I hope you've all been spending some time in your gardens too.

Education City should be working better from now but I can see lots of you have been doing lots of work on there so well done! Again, this week, the work set on there will link to the work I set you to do for Maths and English.

Well done to the GIRLS who have won the times table rockstars battle! This weeks battle is year 3 Vs year 4 - remember there are double the amount of children in year 3 as there is in year 4 so year 4's you've got lots to do!

For this week's home learning I would like you to undertake the following;

Start your day with Joe Wicks’ 9am PE lesson (or some active lesson such as Super movers or Dance with Oti Mabuse)

Year 3 work: Year 4 work:
Maths

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/

Please complete week 1, lesson 1 and 2 on the whiterose website. We use a lot of whiterose resources in school so these should be familiar. There is a video for the children to watch then activities to complete which can be completed in your exercise books.

*Parents - the answers are on there too!*

English

You'll never guess what has happened Class 3...

I went into my kitchen this afternoon to make a cup of tea and look what I saw...

Use expanded noun phrases and fronted adverbials to write a description of what I saw, how I might have felt and what I did. You can write as if you are me or imagine this happened to you! Remember not to be time travelers (stick to one tense part or present)

Year 3 success criteria:

capital letters, full stops, exclamation mark, question mark, expanded noun phrases, adverbials

Year 4 success criteria:

capital letters, full stops, commas, exclamation mark, question mark, paragraphs, expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials, direct speech

I'd love to see some of your work so feel free to email them to me!

Reading

Read books you have at home or listen to some on audible.

Parents please question your child on what they have read. Below are suggestions for questions for each strand of reading - we use these in schools in our guided reading lessons so the children will be familiar with the types of questions you may ask.

Topic

We were learning all about the Anglo Saxons. This week I'd like you to do some work on the Anglo Saxons. You could choose from some of the activities below.

-design and make your own anglo saxon shield

-create a presentation explaining what life was like for children during the Anglo Saxon time period (This could be a poster presentation or on powerpoint)

- research then make an anglo saxon boat

-complete some research about Anglo Saxons and write down the top 10 facts you find out

-Write a story set in the Anglo Saxon times

It would be great to share some of the things we do so feel free to email in any photos

Need something extra?

Whilst the weather is still looking bright, get yourself into the garden.

You could have a go at some shadow art like this...

They're used some of their own toys and drawn around their shadow.

Don't forget you could also have a go at the daily mile!

I'm missing you all lots and hope you are all staying safe at home with your families!
