Monday 30th March
Hello Class One,
How was your weekend? What have you been getting up to at home?
I have enjoyed seeing some of the things you have been doing at home with your family. You have been creating beautiful rainbows, working hard on your maths and literacy skills, and doing some super learning through your play.
Remember I am still here. You can write me a message and send me some photos of your learning at home whenever you like.
Here is your home learning for today. Let’s learn some more about spring this week.
Please keep all of your home learning safe so that you can share it with us when we return to school, and please continue to send photos or videos. I love seeing what you are getting up to!
Remember to continue to learn through your play at home together, talk, rest and try out some of the other things I have shared on the website and on class dojo.
Have a great day.

Try PE with Joe Wicks at 9am on you tube Monday to Friday.
Literacy-
First watch the video on class dojo where I will read you a book about spring.
Can you talk to your family about the questions in the video?
Next let’s draw and write about spring. You can use the template below (attached at the bottom of the page), use paper or your home learning book.
Nursery- Can you draw some pictures of the things you see in the spring? Can you tell your family about what you have drawn and then your family can write down what you have said about these things. Can you hear and say the initial sound for some of the things you have drawn? Use the alphabet mat below to help you find the sound needed. Can you trace over, copy or write the sound yourself? For example; flower starts with the f sound, can you write f? When you have finished this can you practice writing your name.
Reception- Can you draw and write sentences about the things you see in the spring? Here are some ideas.
I see pink flowers. I see big trees. I see rain drops splash!
Remember to use your phonics to spell (Use a phase 3 sound mat to help. Your parents can help you find the sound if you are unsure and help you spell difficult words) and use the tricky word lists in your home school reading diary. Try and include all of the things on the writing checklist below (tick them off after like we do in class if you would like to).
Maths-
Time for some active maths! This can be done at home or in the garden.
Nursery- Here is your Active Maths challenge for today! This will help you to develop your counting. This can be done in the garden, home or on a short walk. You could count the daisies on the grass or maybe put some cars out to be counted. (Try and use amounts/numbers up to 5 and then to 10 or beyond if your child is confident.) Take a piece of paper and a pencil/pen with you. Can you draw how many daisies/cars you find on the grass? Maybe you can tally them? Can you trace over, copy or write the number to match?
Reception-
Here is your Active Maths challenge for today! This will help you develop your counting to 20 and back again, and also help you learn about distance too. Have a go! Did you reach your target place? Did it take less than the 20 steps to reach? Did you need to do more than 20 steps? I wonder who could count in 2’s to do this challenge? Maybe you could record how many jumps/hops/steps it took to get to the TV or end of the garden? Which took the least amount of steps? Which took the most amount of steps? Which was the furthest away? Nearest?
Your topic challenges for the week are all around the theme of Spring!
We are going on a spring walk.
Watch the video on class dojo that I have posted of a spring walk around the garden. Now can you go into your garden, have a look out the window or go out on a short walk and see what signs of spring you can find. Take the spring hunt check list with you and tick off the things that you find. Can you help take some photos of the things you find and send them over to me?
