Monday 13th July
Hello Class One,
This week our learning is around the story of How Many Legs! We will have some activities themed around the story, animals and lots of opportunities for maths learning this week.
I hope you have a super week learning around the story and I can’t wait to see your amazing learning! Please send me a photo and a message about the things you have been learning and getting up to at home.
Mrs Coleman-Harris x
Parents remember to do what you can (2 hours throughout the day is plenty- this doesn’t need to be all in one go!) Continue to learn lots more through your own play too.
Watch the story here
Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmUY5bXkVKQ Talk about how many legs you can see throughout the book? Can you count them all? What animals would you invite for tea? How many legs would there be then?
Literacy-
Nursery and Reception
Can you draw the animals you would like to invite to a tea party and draw your tea party table.
What animals would you invite to tea? What food would you have? How many legs would there be? How many chairs would you need? How many tables? How many sandwiches? What if everyone wanted 2 cakes? How many would you need?
Nursery can you draw your tea party and the animals you would invite? Can you label them with the initial sound or more sounds you can hear in the word? For example what sounds can you hear in rabbit? Tiger? Your parents can help you with some of the sounds and you can take it in turns to write some of the sounds in the words. Tell your parents all about what you would take with you. They can write down what you said or maybe you could have a go at writing some more words about what you would take too.
Reception can you independently use your phonics to write about the animals that would come to your tea party and the things you would need. Write some sentences to tell me all about what your tea party. Remember to use your phonics to spell and use the sentence check list to help you remember to include spaces, capital letters and full stops! Here is an example and some sentence starters to help you.
I will have a big hippo at my party. It has 4 legs. I will have a cat and a dog.
That is 8 legs! I will need lots of yummy cakes.
I need…
It has….
It will be….
I will….

Continue to practice your letter formation
I have recorded a letter formation video for you to help you develop your letter formation at home. It’s quite long so you may want to just practice a few letters at a time. I hope it helps! When you open the link, it can be slow loading. Wait a while and it should start to work.

It is super to hear about how this is helping lots of you with your letter formation!
