Art take two
Today in art we used our rubbings from yesterday to create our own pictures.
Pumpkin Fun
This week we have had lots of messy pumpkin fun. We have scooped out the seeds andused hammers to hammer sticks into the pumpkins. We are hoping to grow our own pumpkins using the seeds we have scooped out of these. We also enjoyed decorating spooky biscuits and painting pumpkins.
Finding a part
Today in maths Year 1 used hoops and balls to find the missing part. They then wrote number sentences to match their part whole models.
Addition Problems
Year 1 have been solving a variety of different addition problems. They have used a variety of methods to help them including the number line, tens frames and the part whole model.
Maths Champions
Today Ms Stretton set Year 1 a challenge ‘How many number bonds to 10 can you find in 5 minutes?’ We had a winning pair. Well done!
Class 2 Art
In art today Class 2 were taking rubbings in our outdoor classroom. We talked about pattern and texture and began to think how we could produce a piece of art work using our rubbings.
Bug hunting
We have had a great time searching for mini beasts by carefully thinking about which micro-habitats they might live in.
Circuits
This week we have finished our DT projects. After spending several weeks coming up with designs, planning our designs, testing circuits and then putting it all together.
We had some issues getting circuits to work but persevered, had another go, and we are really pleased with the outcomes.

Green manure?
We spent some time outside gardening today, enjoying the fresh air, chatting and keeping active: all part of day to day life at school and to help with our work on mental health this week. We even learnt about Green manure and it’s use for making the soil in our raised beds richer.

Working as a team
Our Year 1 children are working in pairs to match words and pictures in their phonics session. Today they are looking at the ‘ar’ sound.
Egyptian Day
Highlight of our week was definitely out MAT Egyptian Day at Richard Crosse.
We had lots of fun learning about pyramids, mummification, food, religion and so much more.
We all mixed well with the other schools, some saw old friends, some made new friends.
A fantastic day all round.

Burglar Bill
This week we have read the story Burglar Bill by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. We make predictions about what was inside Burglar Bills’s Big Brown Box. We also built Burglar Bill’s ‘big, tall house’ out of Duplo. We hope you enjoy looking at our pictures. ☺️
