Class 1's Easter Cross
This week we finished our Easter unit with a cross, made from recycled materials, ready to hang in our faith corner. Well done all, it looks beautiful!
Class 1's Trip to the Farm!
This week, Class 1 have been to the farm. We made bread, collected eggs from the hens, and saw lots of animals!
The 3 Pigs' House
Today the children are using their friendship, teamwork, perseverance, questioning and reasoning skills to build a house! We're hoping that it is strong enough to protect us from the Big Bad Wolf.
Gingerbread experiment
Today we are going to experiment with gingerbread. After reading the Gingerbread man, we are going to question what would happen to him if he fell in the river. We will make predictions. We will question what would happen if he fell into different liquids? We will make hypotheses. We will observe…
Mass and Capacity
We've been exploring mass and capacity by using the weighing scales to measure out chocolate and cornflakes. We've then explored different sized spoons and scoops to put the mixture into the cupcake cases.
Faith necklaces
Faith necklaces - a small seed to hold and remind us that we can grow with care, and be anything we want to be.
Special Stories
Today we have looked at a Special Story from Sikhism - The Milk and the Jasmine Flower. We noticed that the story reminded us of Jesus in some parts, and that both Sikhism and Christianity want us to spread kindness.
We made our own flowers to put into ‘milk’, and watched in awe and wonder as…
Loaves and Fish!
After reading about how kind and helpful Jesus was, when he fed a large crowd with bread and fish, we made our own bread. We also made picnic baskets, so we could be like the people who sat and listened to Jesus as he taught.
The Starry Night
This week, to tie in with our space theme, we have been making our own 'Stary Night' inspired artwork!
We carefully picked the right colours and tried to copy Van Gogh's swirling and circular brush strokes.
Salty, science-y snowflakes
Today we started an experiment that will take all week to finish.
We cut out paper snowflakes and have covered them in extremely salty water.
We hope to observe salt crystals forming on our snowflakes as the water evaporates, or dries.
Winter science!
Given the frosty weather outside, I thought I would ask the children what they thought the small rocks were that appear on the playground when it's cold.
Some children already knew that it is salt! We talked about why we put salt down when it's icy, and followed it up with an experiment to…
