Christmas Dinner and Santa!
We want to send a huge thank you to Alex and Kay for cooking us the most delicious Christmas Dinner today! We sat with children from different classes and shared Christmas Crackers with them, before tucking into our food.
When we'd eaten our fill, we sang the 12 Days of Christmas, then rang…
Mini scientists
We've done lots of science this term - we have placed pumpkins (both whole and halved) inside and outside and hypothesised which would rot first, we have made nests for hibernating hot water bottles and measured which ones stayed warmer for longer, and most recently, we have gotten the colour out…
Bread!
After looking at wheat and all the wonderful things it can produce, we have made our own loaf from flour!
We each had a turn at pouring the water, mixing the batter into a dough, and then kneading it. Afterwards, we tasted it! I was very pleased that everybody tried some.
Muddy Maths!
We have been investigating capacity this week. The children were provided with a range of different sized containers, and different sized scoops. We discussed capacity, and which containers we predicted would hold the most soil. We then discussed which would be the most suitable scoops for filling…
VIPs!
We’ve been talking about VIPs, and how God is a VIP to Christians. So of course, we had to have our own VIPs in class, and we treated them to a walk down the red carpet. Some of us then asked our VIPs for a selfie!
Poetry Friday!
The children had an amazing time this morning with a visit from Pep the Poet! He got us all up and moving, and had us all in giggles. Thank you Pep!
Salon fun!
The children had lots of fun decorating the teachers’ hair today in our salon. The children were either attending to hair and makeup, or were serving their customers cake and tea! Lots of creativity and imagination across the classroom, well done reception!
Shape spotting walk!
We've been on a shape hunt today! We walked around the church and we were looking for circles, rectangles, squares, triangles and even semi circles! We noticed that there were lots of rectangles in the church bricks, and we also noticed that a lot of our shapes were in man made…
The King of Kings!
This week we've been doing lots and lots of rehearsals for our Christmas play, 'A Little Bird Told Me'.
We've also made our Christingles and had a wonderful service at church. At the end of the week, we have been thinking about how Jesus is the King of Kings, and have made our own…
Road Safety
This week Class 1 have been learning about road safety. I was very impressed with how well they knew the roads already! We talked about where to stand, how to look both ways, holding an adult's hand and all the places which are generally safer to cross, like zebra crossings and near a crossing…
Welcome nursery!
We've had a wonderful week in Class 1, welcoming new faces into our classroom and showing them around the school. We've had fun in forest school, we've been thinking about the Creation story, and we've made lots of new friends this week.
Minibeast hunting!
This week class 3 have been outside, hunting down minibeasts. When we found one, we were very careful not to damage it while we sketched it. Then, we noted down its habitat and made notes about what the habitat was like. We used this to discuss why certain creatures choose certain…
