Topics coming up before the half term holiday

Here is an overview of the topics in each subject for the next two weeks. 

 

Maths - Year 1 and 2 have both just started adding and subtracting numbers. Year 1 are working on adding and subtracting numbers to 10. Year 2 are working on adding and subtracting numbers to 100, and using the column method. Please use the White Rose parent workbooks and Education City to support your child's learning at home. Education City log ins are on the back of children's reading diaries. If you would like a printed copy of the White Rose Parent workbook, just ask at the gate and I'm happy to print it out. Learning the column method can be quite tricky in Year 2 and children benefit from lots of practice at home and at school.

Art: Josiah Wedgwood - we will learn about his life, his work and try to paint our own pottery. 

RE: The Creation Story - we will continue to learn about the Creation Story, it's importance and place in the Bible and which of God's creations we are thankful for.

English: We will finish writing our Pirate information texts and begin reading and writing Autumn themed poetry.

Phonics: Year 1 have been working really hard on split digraphs - please see my earlier post about split digraph learning.
