We have had a great week again here at St Mary's. Today I have reported to Directors on our wonderful school. It gave me great pleasure to tell them about all of the wonderful things we are up to. The children have showcased their brilliant behaviour to a range of guests this week form our NHS flu-jab team through to the Year 7 transition lead at The Hart High school. Mrs Gethin has also been over and spent a morning looking at our books and super work. She was really impressed with everything she saw; especially how good we are at using our purple pens to improve our work and answer our targets.

We are working towards our ArtsMark award at the moment. Being able to follow modelled examples and then reflect on our own work is an important part of being an artist. As you can see below we are certainly doing a good job!

School bags

There are still a number of children with large rucksacks that take up a lot of space in our corridors. Quite often they only contain a few things that could be brought in smaller bags/book bags. Please encourage your child to have a sort of their bag and see what they really need for school. As the weather changes could you also please ensure your child has a coat and wellies for every day of the week.

Learning Tools update

Last week I told you all about perseverance and how we use it at school. Another of our learning tools on our tool belt is Creativity. This is my favourite tool and one we encourage in lots of ways. We love to see creativity in the childrens work and their own slant on things. We also love to see them being creative at break and lunchtimes with the games they play and things they build in the outdoor area. Being creative allows our children to adapt and be the best they can be in individual ways. We hope this tool will be valuable throughout their lives in whatever profession they choose.
