7 January 2020
The week commencing Monday 13th January we are going to be learning all about winter! On Monday we will go for a winter walk around Colton. We will look at the changes to the environment and talk about changes throughout the seasons. We will also create winter songs and perform them with instruments. When we return to school we will draw and write about winter. We will also think about the clothes we need to wear in winter and design our own winter accessories. We will use patterns, repeating patterns and think about the best material to use to make winter accessories. At the end of the week, we will make snowman biscuits! Yum!
There will be lots of other winter themed activities for the children to access independently as well as all of our other areas of continuous provision. The children are fantastic at showing love, respect and friendship towards others as they learn through their play.
In phonics the Reception children will begin phase 3 phonics. They will learn the sounds y, z and zz this week. They will continue to learn how to read tricky words and sentences.
Nursery will continue to develop their reading skills through song, rhyme and lots of phase 1 phonics activities and games.
